The passage in Malachi that is interpreted as referring to John the Baptist is Malachi 3:1, which states, "Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me".
Here's a more detailed explanation:
This verse speaks of a messenger who will prepare the way before the Lord, and the New Testament Gospels interpret this messenger as John the Baptist.
This passage, which speaks of the return of Elijah, is also interpreted as referring to John the Baptist, with some believing that John was the fulfillment of the prophecy of Elijah's return.
"Behold, I will send Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a curse.”
The period between the ministry of Malachi and the appearance of John the Baptist is known as the intertestamental period, which is roughly 400 years.
John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus by preaching repentance and baptizing in the name of the Lord.

A few weeks ago, I posted a sermon by Kenneth Hagin. In the sermon Dr. Hagin made a remark, now you have to understand that this guy had been preaching the gospel for something like forty years at the time, and the sermon which I am referring was at least forty years ago.
Nonetheless, this man had seen it all. He was a contemporary of some of the greatest evangelistic pioneers of the twentieth century. He was a man recognized around the world as a legitimate “Prophet of the Lord,” and highly regarded by any of the “men of God,” of that generation.
He was also hated by many others who were “in name only,” talented “Preachers,” but actually useless to many in the kingdom of God for their strict legalism and confused “theology,” when it came to understanding the “spiritual things of God.”
Hey, I just realized…”it was much like today!”
Why I’ve never thought about that… ; )
Anyway, in the tape that I released Dr. Hagin, made a comment to our class, and he said something like, “Why, you know, I may say a few things in here that we wouldn’t want spoken out there.”
Well, he was speaking of the world and of the preachers who like to stir up other preachers just for the sake of dividing the “Body of Christ.”
Many preachers hate any individual who is making a mark on Christianity, so you can often find them accusing the brethren or stirring up strife.
And I am sure that many will say, “Hey, that’s what you are John, your one of those “Deconstructionist.”
No, I am sorry, I am just a “preacher of righteousness,” who isn’t afraid to preach the truth, no matter the cost.
So, anyway, my point in sharing this is to say that on that particular tape or sermon, I waited forty years before I released that on my web site.
You see, I waited forty years to respect the man’s wishes. Apparently, what he felt that he spoke that day, should remain behind closed doors to his ministry. Again, this was what he stated in class over forty years ago.
“Why, you know, I may say a few things in here that we wouldn’t want spoken out there in the public.”
________________________________________________________
Well, when I finally released the sermon online, I felt very comfortable that it would all be done in the “will of God,” and that the worth to this coming generation was far more valued than in Dr Hagin being protected of sharing an intimate detail of Rev. Hagin’s dealing with another minister forty years ago.
Nevertheless, there were many times during a meeting where before the meeting began, I would help “pray down the Holy Spirit.”
It was in these meetings where particular ministers may reveal the most personal details or anecdotes in their relationship with Jesus in which they normally would not do.
But, you see, sometimes the Holy Spirit may give insight to a particular preacher, and to tell them that “I want you to open your heart and to share with this particular congregation because there is a future disciple who is going to help turn the world upside down, as the Early Church did.”
And I don’t know why, but I always seem to be sitting right in the congregation when God does these things through the most unlikely preachers imaginable.
It’s sort of a mystery to me, always has been, can you figure it out?
I remember one time; I was at a meeting where Oral Roberts preached a message.
After the Praise, he began to share something personal. He told the congregation, “I have been fighting this, but it just seems as if the Lord wishes for me to share this with you all.”
Then he began, "I have never ever shared this with anyone other than my wife and a few people, but I am going to confess a mistake that I made early in my career," or a statement similar to that.
That’s when my “ears prick up,” and I put out my “spiritual antennae,” as Dr. Hagin, used to say.
I have been in so many meetings where a preacher will say, "I have never shared that before," and then I will know that God meant it for me to help understand the ministry or the nature of God.
Well, Oral began the sermon and before he finished it, he had shared with the entire congregation of preachers how that at “One time in his life, he almost fell into the trap of materialism, like so many of his contemporaries who many were sitting in the audience that day.”
Well, you ask, “How was the sermon received?”
A few years later, the organization of Preachers known as the “International Charismatic Bible Ministries, was no more.
Funny though, I have always wondered if that message of correction to all those “Prosperity Preachers,” sitting in the audience and were even on the board of the organization had anything to do with its demise?
But you see, if Oral had never spoken that sermon and there was no one such as me to witness the event, it would have been long forgotten.
“Oh, I am sorry, it has been long forgotten.”
But you see, these things remain hidden in the “kingdom of God,” because Satan wishes to rear another whole generation of so-called “Preachers,” in order to take the eyes of the newly converted off of Jesus, and to put them back on “Personal wealth,” or “How you can get the Bible and God to make you one of the world’s wealthiest individuals that you may use your resources for the “kingdom of yours.., I mean God.”
I am telling you if God could only reveal to the church, how many ministries spent years placing their congregations under the bondage to “tithe,” all for the sake of some dreamed up building or church complexes of brick and mortar, most would be shocked out of their literal bodies.
In other words, there are hundreds of thousands of churches who were all excited to follow Jesus, and to loyally “tithe,” their entire life’s earnings unto a “building dream,” in which twenty years later they would have absolutely no part of. Many times, these ministries just became so irrelevant that there are just a few brain-dead legalist and conditioned people which now make up a congregation.
And so many have become so deceived that they all believe that in this “conditioned,” state of legalism and belief in which they still think they are the only relevant Christians in the Kingdom, they have actually become totally useless to God.
I mean, I really don’t want to bring “politics,” into a paper on ministry, but if you were to look at the demise of the Democratic party there is a very real parallel.
In the days of John F. Kennedy, the Democrats were highly regarded as having a conscience and for helping their fellow man out.
One of Kennedy’s quotes which resounded around the world was when he made a statement, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
As I recall he had so moved the young people of his day that there were hundreds and thousands who signed up for the Peace Corps.
Following taken from “Google.”

John F. Kennedy's famous inaugural address, culminating in the phrase "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," inspired a generation to embrace civic duty and public service, leading to the creation of the Peace Corps and a renewed focus on active citizenship.
Here's a more detailed look at the impact of Kennedy's words:
The speech's call to action resonated deeply with Americans, encouraging them to move beyond self-interest and contribute to the nation's well-being.
Kennedy's vision of Americans serving abroad to help other countries was a direct result of this message, leading to the creation of the Peace Corps in 1961.
The speech shifted the focus from what the government could do for individuals to what individuals could do for their government and society.
Kennedy's words continue to be cited as a powerful example of inspiring leadership and a call to civic responsibility, influencing generations of Americans.
Kennedy's speech was delivered during a time of great uncertainty and Cold War tensions, and his words provided a sense of hope and purpose for a nation facing global challenges.
These were young people who just “all of a sudden” felt an innate desire to serve others and to take the emphasis off their cushy “cupcake,” type of lives that they had been living.
Seriously, can you imagine this, and he wasn’t even offering the rewards of serving a compassionate and loving God as many do today through true Christianity.
One man, who inspired an entire generation.
And the “truth,” is that if there wasn’t so many lies perpetrated against ‘Donald Trump, and now, Elon Musk, then we would most likely have the same result in this generation.
Nevertheless, as I was saying, those “Democrats,” were inspired by their party and what it stood for.
Do you know what the Democrats stand for today?
Tell me, and we will both know???
Nonetheless, every time that I compare almost any intent of their “practices or policies,” in which they claim to stand for, “they all look to me to be anti-Christ.”
They are anti for the good of society.
They are anti good for the justice system.
They are anti good for the people who wish to work a hard day and to get paid a wage because they still have values and a work ethic.
They are anti children in so many instances.
They are anti believers in so many commonsense clauses, such as the biblical concept that there is a man and a woman and not three hundred variations.
Well, as I said, the intention of this paper was not meant to be political in any way.
The purpose of this paper is to alert the world that the end of time is fast approaching.
But what I am trying to say is that “the Church,” in many ways has lost the values and the integrity just like those who call themselves Democrats, still today from the Kennedy generation.
So, as I was saying concerning this “Prophet of God” who I studied under and who was recognized all over the world as an individual who would at times, speak with Jesus as Jesus appeared to him, as he willed.
But there were a number of sermons where this man would bear his soul, as the Holy Spirit would occasionally move on him. One of those times was when he was teaching us in a class concerning “Women’s ministry.”
Nonetheless, whenever he was sharing “revelation knowledge,” straight from heaven, you could so easily sense it in the room. I swear the room, or auditorium would get so deathly quiet that I really do believe that you could almost hear a pin drop. And then when you left many would be spell bound, almost unable to talk because the man’s words would be hanging over your mind so strong that all else talk was just “banter,” and inane.
You see, many times after a class or meeting I would go to lunch with one of my roommates, but after one of these “Sermons,” it was as if all else was just “moot,” for the moment.
Those were serious meetings with God and one of his servants.
But, you know, the church knows it all anyway!
Have you ever heard them all preach and argue about things like whether a woman should be in the pulpit?
On and on, these self-appointed “theologians” will give you their view, yet none ever take into account, “The Permissible will of God,” and “The Perfect Will of God.”
Just because God allows certain attitudes and traditions in the church, doesn’t necessarily mean that those fall within the “Perfect Will of God.”
Who knows, perhaps, it is not God’s will for a particular preacher to preach or teach, yet God is surely not going to forbid an individual from doing that, nevertheless, they ought to understand the full impact of how that decision is going to affect their personal life.
This was why I learned so much from Kenneth Hagin. You see, he didn’t just teach a theory, but he gave real life examples of Christians or individuals in which he was referring.
Nonetheless, the church is doing such a disservice to individuals by not allowing the whole truth to be spoken.
It was like today, as I was listening to a show on Fox where the individuals were talking about the “years of the Biden administration.”
Will history record the “truth,” of what was happening during his administration?
There was so much corruption and yet many understand the President was in no capacity to be operating in such an office.
Well, I relate everything to the church. This is just how I have always been since I became a ‘born again,” Christian. You see, I have seen so much corruption in the church and yet very little of it is ever truly recorded.
You see, the church is just as the Biden administration, and they wish to hide almost everything that wasn’t honest. Nevertheless, we have the exact same practices repeatedly in the Ministry.
I recall when I first became a Christian over forty years ago, and the Lord one day, gave me the analogy of the “Emperor without any clothes.”
That was the Biden administration, the “Emperor,” is going all over the Earth, and there wasn’t one “friggin” person to say, “Hey wait a minute, the guy ain’t got no clothes on.”
And every Sunday, we walk into our favorite “Charity,” and they always have some guy or girl who has mastered,” the art of the collection of tithes.”
Well, we are collecting for this building and this annex and this children’s playground, and it goes on and on and on and they never ever run out of new projects.
Then what typically happens is that one of the leaders are involved in adultery, or homosexuality and the whole “truth,” eventually comes out.
Yep, you find out that all those hundreds of thousands of dollars being collected every week were going to the study of trans hamsters, lesbian polecats, or you have been funding a Laurel and Hardy, “African Film Festival,” in the nation of Bimbobwee?
And so, after the church is exposed then two junior leaders are going to open another Charismatic Church, in an even more elegant neighborhood.
Well, as I said, I have a few sermons from Kenneth Hagin, that will make your hair stand on end, but I don’t have the freedom to release them.
Nonetheless, yesterday, a sermon resurfaced that I didn’t even know existed from the man.
Well, in the sermon Reverend Hagin revealed that before he was born, Jesus appeared to his mother and told her of the coming birth of Kenneth E. Hagin.
Jesus spoke a “word,” to the young lady and asked her to call him “John,” because he was going to be the “forerunner of the Lord” for Jesus second coming as John the Baptist was during the lifetime of Jesus earthly walk.
Well, the tape ended with no further explanation.
Did the woman not believe fully in the vision and failed to obey the Lord?
Did Jesus counsel with the “Godhead,” and the Father decided to give more “MERCY,” to mankind?
Well, I feel that it is an important event that almost happened back there around 1913, I believe the tape said.
Did you know that on every Passover Celebration, the Jews set a place for Elijah, because they believe that “Elijah,” will return before the great and terrible day of the Lord.
From Google:
Every Passover, Jews set an extra cup of wine on the dinner table and open the door for the enigmatic prophet Elijah, hoping he will enter. An evolving symbol of hope and redemption in Judaism over the centuries, Elijah's return is said to mark the Messiah's earthly arrival.
AI Overview
Jews traditionally set a place for Elijah during Passover (Seder) to symbolize hope for the future redemption and the arrival of the Messiah, with Elijah being seen as a herald of the Messiah's coming.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Elijah is a prominent figure in Jewish tradition, and his return is seen as a sign of the coming of the Messiah and the ultimate redemption of the Jewish people.
In Jewish tradition, Elijah is believed to have been taken up to heaven in a fiery chariot and is expected to return before the arrival of the Messiah.
During the Seder, an empty chair is set for Elijah, and a cup of wine is poured for him, symbolizing his potential arrival and the hope for a future redemption.
Some traditions involve opening the door during the Seder to symbolically welcome Elijah, with the person opening the door saying "Baruch haba" (welcome).
The tradition also serves as a reminder to ask questions about the story of Passover and the hope for future redemption, with Elijah's return being seen as a way to resolve outstanding questions about Jewish life and practice.
The tradition of setting a place for Elijah extends beyond the Seder, with some people setting a place for him at other meals as well.

And so, like I have said many times, when I went to study at Kenneth Hagin’s Bible School, I did not go with the intention as many of the other students. You see, Dr. Hagin was well known for bringing into light the scriptures given by God in order to prosper his people. Therefore, hundreds and thousands would come to learn these principles, but I was never interested in that aspect of his ministry. No, I wanted to learn the principles of being a Prophet, or a “man of God.”
I wanted to learn all knowledge that I could learn of the Father, Jesus and of the Holy Spirit.
I recall myself on at least two occasions when the man laid hands on me, as is traditionally written about in the Bible, concerning the Passing of gifts or ministries unto an individual.
There was one time when this happened, and it was such a memorable experience that I can recall it as if it happened yesterday.
Nonetheless, what I want to point out is that I have always believed that when the “Spirit of Elijah,” is anointed on an individual to be the “FORERUNNER,” of Christ, then they will both be alive at the same time. In other words, at the second coming of Christ, I would not be surprised if “John,” will be walking the Earth ministering as the first John did!
And so, what I am saying is that if the story is accurate, and I have never known Kenneth Hagin to ever tell a lie in following the man’s messages for over forty years, then there was a good chance that Jesus might have already made his second coming, had Kenneth’s mom named her son “John?”
And I am not preaching anything theologically or I am not making any kind of doctrinal statement concerning anything either.
All that I am doing is stating the facts of some events that had happened in the church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Whether anyone chooses to believe one iota of this paper makes no difference to me.
I am just saying that the last days are very much likely to be closer than anyone imagined.
Think about these things, my brethren!
